How the rally is won

SCORING & LEADERBOARD

A combined points system across five categories, tracked on a live leaderboard from Newcastle to Morocco.

9-16 April 2027

Scoring Overview

FIVE WAYS TO SCORE, ONE LIVE LEADERBOARD

Rust 2 Dust uses a combined points system to rank teams across five categories. Points are awarded during the rally and carried through a live leaderboard, updated at every checkpoint.

All scoring is transparent and verified at each checkpoint. Any dispute must be raised with the pit team immediately.

Points Categories

HOW POINTS ARE EARNED

01

Car Purchase Savings

+1 point per £1 under £999 · -1 per £1 over

Your car's purchase price is scored against a £999 baseline, verified at scrutineering with your receipt. Example: buy the car for £750 and that's +249 points; pay £1,199 and it's -200. There is no maximum price, but spending more costs you points.

02

Best Costume: Day 1 Departure

50 points (single award)

For the best costume or creative outfit at the Blaydon RFC departure on Friday 9 April, judged by the pit team. One team wins.

03

Daily Fuel Economy

+1 point per mpg above 35 · -1 point per mpg below 35

Calculated at each checkpoint against a 35 mpg baseline. Fuel consumption is verified from your odometer and receipts.

04

Charity Donations

£1 donated = 1 point

Teams fundraise during the rally for our charity partner, Dragonfly Cancer Trust. Donations are tracked in real time and converted to points on a rolling basis. The campaign: "Drive for the Ones Who Can't".

05

Pit Team Camera Content

Discretionary: 0 to 25 points per checkpoint

Awarded by the pit team for engaging content: video, photos, social media moments, fundraising engagement. There is no fixed rubric; the pit team's decision is final.
